Using the Graphics Manager to work with Images in Publisher 2007

We’ve all had it happen, we finally get our publication just right then we open our email to send it off and notice another email with updated pictures, graphics, or logos! Luckily, Microsoft Publisher has a Graphics Manager that makes replacing images quick and painless, saving you the time and headache of rebuilding your document!

Step-by-Step

  1. With your publication open in Microsoft Publisher 2007 click on the Tools menu to expand it. From the Tools menu, click on the Graphics Manager option to open the Graphics Manager task pane.

  3. In the Graphics Manager task pane, under Display Options, click the Show thumbnail option so that it is checked and selected. Now thumbnail views for each of the images in the document will be displayed in the Graphics Manager task pane.

  5. In the Graphics Manager task pane, hovering the mouse pointer over an existing image will show the menu selector (drop-down arrow) for the image. The menu is only visible if you hover the mouse pointer over the image.

  7. Click on the drop down arrow to show the image’s context menu.

  9. Click the Replace this Picture option to open the Insert Picture dialog.

  11. From the Insert Picture dialog, navigate to the image you want to use to replace the current image, then click the Insert button to replace the image. The new image will be placed into the document and it will be ready to go!

In addition to quickly replacing images, the Graphics Manager can also be used to quickly navigate to a particular picture, view details about a picture, or link the picture to your Microsoft Publisher 2007 publication. Remember, the Graphics Manager task pane was designed to make working with graphics quick and easy, so it’s a great tool to utilize whenever possible!
